The INVASION Episode Guide and Review
Invasion was some of Shaun's best work, and this wonderful series was just too short lived. So I'm ressurecting it with this monthly guide and review. For those of you who have it on DVD, check out the episodes again. See if your take on them matches mine. Maybe you agree, or disagree, or just noticed something I missed. In any case, e-mail me, and I'll post your comments here on the Fan Page! THIS MONTH: RUN AND GUN
The Storyline in a Nutshell Another hurricane is coming to the town of Homestead, or is it? The National Weather Service says it'll touch down in West Palm Beach, but the hybrids and Russell's family know differently. Eli Szura has hidden the people who were on the island, and turned the local Sherriff's department against Tom. Underlay has Szura arrested, but the deputies help him escape. Tom and Russell know he'll be coming after their familiy, so they make plans to leave Homestead fast. Meanwhile at Homestead Hospital, Lewis is recovering, but Kira blames Jesse for the pummeling he got from the hybrid high school boys. She's starting to fall in love with Lewis (and he's falling for Kira as well), and she runs away when she finds out that Lewis can't escape with the family. Russell learns from Mona that the nearby area of Black Point Sound will be closed, so he decides to investigate. It seems Vargas, Russell's ex- friend and co-worker, cordined off that section of the park. He's working for Szura and he's hiding the hybrids who were on the island in the water. Tom finds Kira in Deputy Munger's car, and finds out he's working for Szura through communications on Munger's radio. Kira goes back to the hospital, and Underlay takes Munger into custody. As they're drving along, Munger tells Tom that Szura's way is the only solution. He won't tell Tom where the hybrids are hidden. Tom is tempted to shoot him, but instead decides to decapitate him as he races his squad car at top speed ramming Munger's side into a shipping pallette ful of lumber. When Dave goes to pick up Rose from school, he meets with resistance from her teacher. When he questions her teaching methods, she tells him that she's dying from cancer, and wants to educate her class on what that will mean. Finally, the family departs, leaving Dave to protect Russell's house. When they get past the roadblocks, Tom and Russell, (on the same side for a change) tell Larkin and Mariel that they're going back to stop Szyra, and that they should take the kids on ahead. But will they be able to stop Szura? Only 2 episodes to go!
HardyGirl's Review There were a LOT of things going on in this ep, which is why the "nutshell" is so big this month. This was a very powerful episode. Tom and Szura are at dealy odds, and he's losing control of the Sherriff's Dept. Kira and Lewis are falling in love. I thought that scene where he tells Kira he'll wait for her forever was very touching, but she is only 16, Lewis! Tom commits murder, (and in such a gruesome way!), and he and Russell are teaming up for the good of their family. This ep has intrigue, romance, betrayal, murder; all the elements of a top drawer story. I give it 4 lights!
Production Boo-Boos The only real one I noticed was that when Underlay decapitated Munger, and they show Munger's hands all covered with blood, Tom got out of the squad car, fresh and clean and not a drop of blood, or debris from the "accident" on him. I didn't notice this until the second time I watched this ep, but I think wardrobe and make-up could have done better.
Did You Know...? I don't have any factoids this month, but if you do, e-mail me!
What did you think? Did you thnk this ep was a gripping as I did? Did it make you hang on the edge of your seat? Did it shock you or make you think? If the answer to any of these questions is YES, e-mail me and share you thoughts with the rest of us.
