The INVASION Episode Guide and Review
Invasion was some of Shaun's best work, and this wonderful series was just too short lived. So I'm ressurecting it with this monthly guide and review. For those of you who have it on DVD, or can watch on on AOL.com, (see above), check out the episodes again. See if your take on them matches mine. Maybe you agree, or disagree, or just noticed something I missed. In any case, e-mail me, and I'll post your comments here on the Fan Page!
FISH STORY
The Storyline In A Nutshell This episode picks up right where the last one left off. Larkin is being chased by a car, and flips over. The car lands sideways, but she manages to get out, only after cutting her hand and losing her shoe. She finds another car, but it has a dead body in it (someone who was lost in the hurricane). She gets him out of his car, but she can't start it, so she takes his shoes and start walking. Russell, Jessie and Dave, now back from their "fishing" trip, get a call over the radio that Larkin never showed up to cover her news story. So Russell and Dave go searching. Jessie stays at the house, but soon Mariel, Kira and Rose come over to keep Jessie company, (which he is not too thrilled about). Meanwhile, Larkin flags down a car and gets a ride from a "Haitian" fisherman. They stop at an abandoned roadside fruit stand because Larkin is in pain. Russell and Dave have found Larkin's car and are tracking her. Tom is aiding in the search. The fisherman seems to be having trouble w/ his truck, and when Dave adn Russell catch up to him, he lies to them, saying that Larkin was with another man in a blue sedan driving down the road. Tom catches up to the vehicle that was chasing Larkin, telling Russell that they're just lost "insuranace adjusters". Larkin is now frightened of the fisherman because a knife falls out of his jacket. He shows her a "squid" in a cooler in the back of his truck, saying that the military was paying him a lot of money for it. When he sees Russell's truck coming back, he leaves Larkin on the saide of the road for Russell to find. Larkin is taken to the hospital, and her baby is fine. As it turns out, Tom knew about the military chasing Larkin, paid the fisherman to find her and stall so he could call off the military's hunt for her. Was that just a squid in the fisherman's truck? And what's Tom's involvement with the military?
HardyGirl's Review This was a very suspenseful episode! It has been a long time since I've seen it, but it did have me on the edge of my seat (for Larkin's portion, anyway). I did find the sub plot interesting, though. We get a little insight about why Jessie is so angry at Mariel. But I didn't think the "I don't wanna lose you" line made much sense in the context of the events. Apparently, Mariel is making an effort to make herself available to him, so why would he say that? Anyway, I really liked the way this episode kept you guessing right up until the end. And just when you think Tom is trying to be a nice guy, we see he's right in the thick of things. I thought Lisa Sheridan (Larkin) played her part extremely well, though I think it may have been more convincing if her stomach were pooching out a little. But really, and enjoyable ep. The HardyGirl gives it 4 lights!
Production Boo-Boos * Didn't Larkin lose her shoe in a puddle next to her car? Russell found it away from her car.
*Larkin really wasn't run off the road, she was chased, and she flipped b/c she didn't see the obstacle in her path in time and tried to steer clear of it.
Did you know...? I don't have any tidbits this month, but if you do, e-mail me and share it!
